I can understand, though, you might be trepidatious about running a restore because you might be worried the restore won't work and you'll be worse off. If it fails, you can restore the backup made before v7 was done. So you create a new Full or Incremental/Differential and then attempt to run the v8 installer. I always take an Incremental or a new Full before installing Reflect updates.
